Sourcewell (“Sourcewell,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, retain, and disclose personal data when you interact with our websites, online communities, or other digital services. Throughout this Privacy Notice and our Terms of Use, these websites, online communities, and services are collectively referred to as our “Digital Assets.”

This Privacy Notice applies only to information we collect:

  • Through your access to and use of our Digital Assets
  • Through communications between you and Sourcewell, including email, text messages, chat, and other electronic communications
  • When you interact with our advertising, social media, or applications (including mobile apps) on third-party websites or services, if those interactions link to this Privacy Notice

Please read this Notice carefully to understand our practices regarding your information and how we handle it. By accessing or using our Digital Assets, or by providing information to us, you agree to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this Notice.

We may update this Notice from time to time. Your continued use of our Digital Assets after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes. We encourage you to review this Notice periodically for updates.

 

Data related to children

Sourcewell’s Digital Assets are not intended for children under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have collected or received personal data from a child under 18, we will delete that information.

 

Data that we collect and process

Personal data” here means data that is linked or reasonably linkable to an identified or identifiable natural person. The types of personal data we may collect or process include:

  • Account and contact information, such as your name, mailing and/or email address, phone number, username, and other information you provide us with.
  • Payment information, including credit or debit card details and information about payment services you use in connection with our Digital Assets.
  • Account history, details about your subscriptions, accounts, transactions, purchases, order history, or discounts.
  • Demographic information, such as age, gender, income level, education, or marital or family status, only when you consent to its collection.
  • User-generated content, including information you choose to provide in your profile, reviews, or communications with us through emails, chats, or other channels.
  • Images, voice recordings, and videos, collected or stored in connection with our Digital Assets, only when you consent to their collection.

Some of the information described above may be considered private data under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 13). Sourcewell collects and processes personal data only when you consent to its collection.

 

Statistical, aggregated, and technical data

We also collect statistical, aggregated, and technical data.

  • Device information, including IP address, device identifiers, operating system, preferred language, browser type, and similar technical details.
  • Technical information data about your internet connection and usage of our Digital Assets, clickstream data such as dates and times of access; pages viewed or searched; page response times; time spent on pages; statistical or aggregated data does not directly identify an individual. 

If we combine statistical, aggregated or technical data with personal data in a way that identifies an individual, we treat this combined information as personal data.

 

How we collect data

Information you provide us with

When you interact with our Digital Assets, including when you:

  • Create or update an account or profile
  • Subscribe, register, or make a purchase or request
  • Participate in surveys or research activities
  • Create, upload, or post content, such as comments, reviews, photos, videos, or voice recordings

Data from business partners and service providers

We may receive personal data about you from a service provider or business partner, these sources include email service providers, content delivery services, payment processors, promotional partners, analytics providers, security and anti-fraud vendors, and data brokers. We combine this with information we collect directly from you.

Information collected automatically

When you interact with our Digital Assets, we may automatically collect information including usage details, IP addresses, operating system and browser type, and information collected through cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies.

  • Cookies. Cookies are small files placed on your device when you interact with our Digital Assets. You can configure your browser or device to refuse or disable cookies. However, doing so may limit your access to certain features of our Digital Assets.
  • Web beacons. Web beacons are small electronic files that allow us to count the number of users who have visited certain pages helping us compile statistics, such as content popularity and system performance.

The data collected may include network traffic data, location data, logs, as well as details about the Digital Asset resources and features you access and use. We use this data to help us improve our Digital Assets and provide more efficient and personalized user experience.

Data collect by third parties 

When you interact with our Digital Assets, third parties may also collect information about you or your device. These third parties may include advertisers, ad networks, analytics providers, device manufacturers, internet or mobile service providers, or vendors licensed by Sourcewell. They may use this information to deliver interest-based advertising or other targeted content.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide content, features, products, and services through our Digital Assets
  • Fulfill the purposes for which you provided the information
  • Communicate with you about your account, subscription, or participation in research activities
  • Improve, maintain, and optimize our Digital Assets
  • Promote Sourcewell and its offerings through advertising and marketing on our Digital Assets and third-party services
  • Enforce contracts and protect our rights
  • Notify you about updates or changes to our products or services
  • Use the information as otherwise described when it is collected
  • Use the information for any other purpose with your consent
  • Estimate audience size and usage patterns
  • Store preferences to improve your experience

Minnesota Government Data Practices Act

Because Sourcewell is a government entity, all data we collect, create, receive, maintain, or disclose is governed by the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 13).

 

How we protect your personal data

We use commercially reasonable administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect your personal data from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access or disclosure. However, no system is completely secure.

Communications such as email, text messages, and chats may not be secure. You should carefully consider what information you send to us through these channels. Any transmission of personal data is at your own risk.

You are also responsible for protecting your personal data against unauthorized access or use.
